Time for another professional in the spotlight! Get to know the talented Stéphane Sowa, a freelance Motion Designer & 3D Interactive/Visual Effects Artist from Brussels. As founder of the creative studio hamham.brussels, his main goal is to make visuals for all media channels related to your brand or campaign, in order to make the brand experience unique and recognizable.

How did you get into the industry? 

I started my career in graphic design, where I was fortunate enough to work on projects that gained recognition, including being shortlisted at the Cannes Lions for my work with Thalys.

Over the years, I expanded into motion design and 3D interactive platforms, which allowed me to bring more dynamic and engaging visuals to my clients. This evolution was driven by my passion for visual storytelling and technology.

What does your work-life balance look like?

I prioritize maintaining a healthy balance by setting clear boundaries between work and personal time. It’s crucial to recharge creatively, and I make time for hobbies and relaxation. Collaboration with a diverse range of clients also helps keep my work fresh and enjoyable.

What is the biggest advantage for you to work as a freelancer?

The freedom to work on projects that genuinely excite me. Being a freelancer allows me to choose who I work with and tailor each project to fit my skills and creative vision. The flexibility in my schedule is also a major plus.

With over 15 years of experience in the audiovisual industry, I have a proven track record of delivering high-quality work, from motion design for national television to interactive 3D platforms. My commitment to understanding client needs and exceeding expectations makes me a valuable partner in any creative project.

What is still on your bucket list?

I’d love to direct a short animated film, blending both motion design and interactive 3D storytelling. It’s a project I’ve been dreaming about for years.

What is your life motto?

“Creativity is intelligence having fun.” This drives me to approach each project with curiosity and enthusiasm, constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

What is indispensable to you in your work environment?

Besides an Internet connection, a powerful workstation is key. The technical demands of motion design and 3D work require top-tier hardware to keep my workflow smooth and efficient.
