We asked him a few questions to get to know him better!
How did you end up in this industry?
After completing my higher education in Digital Arts & Entertainment (video game design), I wanted to specialize further in animation, which I did at RITS. Afterward, I started working at the animation studio of one of my former teachers.
What does your work-life balance look like?
Currently, it’s a bit out of balance because my wife is recovering from burnout, and with three young children, we definitely have our hands full 😅. Additionally, I serve as the ICT coordinator at the school where my wife teaches. This year, I’m also teaching four hours of Arts Education (MUVO) to the 2nd and 6th grades. It can be a lot sometimes, but I keep pushing through.
What is the biggest advantage of working as a freelancer for you?
I can be very flexible, especially with my daily schedule. This allows me to take on part of the household chores, or easily take 'time off' when one of the children is sick, for example.
Why should a company choose you?
I've heard from various sources that the future belongs to (creative) generalists… well, here I am! Since I learn quickly, love brainstorming and executing ideas, and enjoy being creative, I can function at various levels and am highly versatile.
What is still on your bucket list?
Traveling for a long period with my family. The United States or Australia, for example.
Fill in the blank: I cannot live without my …
Heart.
Cheesy 'dad' joke aside: without music. It often helps me to focus, or conversely, to decompress.
If you could practice a completely different profession for a month, what would it be and why?
Lego designer. It seems super fun to collaborate with other Lego designers and eventually come up with a set that turns up in stores. Maybe I should follow a Danish class then?
Thank you for your contribution, Sem!
