Yoran
Managing Editor and Radio Producer

Professional in the Spotlight: Yoran Chanet
Yoran is a storyteller with an enormous passion for journalism, radio, and music—these are his building blocks. His career began as a host on NRJ during the evening rush hour, after which he worked as a final director at Ketnet and as a managing editor for Mediahuis newspapers. His dream? He would love to host on the radio again and become a programmer for festivals and concerts. Additionally, being a music journalist is also high on his list. We asked Yoran a few questions to get to know him better!
How did you get into the sector?
I entered the sector thanks to a talent search by NRJ. Nathalie, the station manager at the time, chose me from a series of candidates. And that's how my childhood dream came true.
What does your work-life balance look like?
I am a freelancer on the side and am currently looking for a new challenge as my primary occupation. It can get quite busy, but I absolutely love that.
What is the biggest advantage of working as a freelancer for you?
I have a great need for freedom and a set of tasks where I can take on different roles and functions. As a freelancer, I can act as a managing editor, host, journalist, audio creator, and so on—ideal for someone who enjoys many challenges.
Why should a company choose you?
I am a real go-getter with a big heart for journalism, music, and radio. In addition, I have strong organizational skills, am proficient in project management, and am very conscientious, loyal, and driven. I always aim for the best result.
What is still on your bucket list...
Going on a long trip, for example to Australia. Making my radio and music dreams come true again and learning to sing. And my VRT voice diploma; I am working hard on that with my speech therapist Bernadette Timmermans.
What do you enjoy spending money on?
On music: festivals, concerts, art, and culture. Additionally, I like to invest in training for myself: learning a new skill, further education, and traveling. Exploring other cultures.
If you could swap places for a day with a famous person – dead or alive, real or fictional – who would you choose and why?
I would love to swap with Tamino or Isaac Roux. They make such beautiful music and are such great singers. If only I had that talent haha. They are born storytellers with a nose for a great indie sound.
